Thanks to generous charitable donations of individuals including Gerald “Jerry” T. Halpin, the SMSC is able to provide partial financial support for a few selected international professionals to attend our conservation training courses. These awards are highly competitive–typically no more than one partial or full scholarship per course is awarded (sometimes fewer). Scholarship recipients are expected both to utilize their training to address conservation challenges in their countries, and to disseminate their new knowledge among regional colleagues. Most awards range from $500-$3,000, so supplementing with funds from other sources remains crucial.
