The programme followed from a passion and desire from members of the firm to help artists. By using this, alongside employees that are artists or have personal contacts in the art world, the programme seeks to effectively help emerging artists from a wide range of areas, whether that be from non-traditional career paths or under-represented countries.
The Ashurst Emerging Artist Prize was founded in October 2014 to further build on the programme. Following its success in its 1st year, we launched it for its 2nd year with larger prizes, an additional Sculpture Prize and greater emphasis on reaching out to many more artists and helping them by promoting early entries and hosting informative talks.
